Players bring some Perfekt timing to madcap comedy
Derby Telegraph Review
WHO is the mysterious Dr Short and why did he marry a warthog?
Has he murdered his fourth wife and why is there a lamp post in the front room?
All this is revealed in Mickleover Players’ current production of this madcap comedy by David Tristram.
The world’s nearly-most-famous detective, Inspector Drake, struggles to solve his greatest-ever case, groping for the answers to the perfect crime.
This laugh -out-loud production had the audience in stitches from the beginning as they tried to unravel a plot “more twisted than a twisted thing”.
The cast showed great comic timing, bringing the excellent script to life as they superbly played a collection of completely mad characters.
Inspector Drake (Nick Barker) was an energetic and suitably intelligent detective, ably supported by his blundering sidekick, Sergeant Plod (Alan Waring).
The physical comedy demanded by these two roles was skilfully demonstrated by both actors.
The talented cast was completed by a confidently performed Dr Short (Andrew Gallear), the two Sabrinas played by Lucy Naylor and Alison Sparey, with a cameo role by Jo Jackson.
Congratulations to first time producer and director Steven Melvin and Sean Daly for a brilliant and entertaining evening.
